Criminals pose as jailed gangster Neeraj Bawania over telephone, try extorting Rs 50 lakh from Delhi businessman

The Delhi Police Crime Branch on Sunday arrested two individuals, who posed as jailed gangster Neeraj Bawania over the telephone, for making an attempt to extort Rs 50 lakh from a businessman within the nationwide capital. The two accused, recognized as Mohammad Moin and Adil, have been arrested in reference to the case.

According to the crime department, Moin made extortion calls and recognized himself as gangster Neeraj Bawania whereas his confederate Adil had a problem with the complainant and he wished to show the businessman a lesson.

The businessman lodged a criticism alleging that he was being threatened over the telephone by the accused who have been demanding Rs 50 lakh from him.

A case has been registered in opposition to the accused below sections 387 and 506 of the Indian Penal Code.
