Daniil Medvedev and Jannik Sinner will face-off in the Rotterdam ATP ultimate
Daniil Medvedev outclassed Grigor Dimitrov in straight units on Saturday to set-up a Rotterdam ATP ultimate showdown towards in-form Jannik Sinner and guarantee a return to the world’s prime 10.
Russian participant Medvedev, seeded sixth, received 6-1, 6-2 in simply 82 minutes, changing six of 13 break factors to attain his first ultimate since claiming the title in Vienna final October.
“It was an incredible match. The rating appears simple, however the match was not. I felt bodily like I used to be taking part in 5 units,” said former world number one Medvedev.
In his 28th career final on Sunday, he will face Italy’s 14th-ranked Sinner who defeated Dutch wild card Tallon Griekspoor 7-5, 7-6 (7/5).
“It would be amazing to win here,” mentioned Medvedev, a 15-time champion on the tour.
“Every time I come right here, all over the place there are photographs of the winners and their names.
“I don’t bear in mind who received it first time, however then Arthur Ashe received it, then others like McEnroe, Borg, Edberg, and I’m like ‘Well, that tournament has a history for sure’. To add my title there could be superb.”
Sinner, who lifted the title in Montpellier last weekend, didn’t face a break point in his victory against world number 61 Griekspoor.
It was a seventh win in a row for Sinner but he has yet to defeat Medvedev in four previous meetings
