Delhi Airport: The twin elevated Eastern Cross Taxiways and the fourth runway on the airport within the nationwide capital will be operational from July 13, a senior official stated on Friday. The Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) within the nationwide capital has three runways now.
With the Eastern Cross Taxiways (ECT), the gap an plane has to cowl after touchdown on the third runway and going to Terminal 1 will cut back to 2 kilometre from 9 kilometre now.

IGIA is operated by Delhi International Airport Ltd (DIAL), a consortium led by GMR Airports Infrastructure Ltd. The ECT is 2.1 kilometres lengthy and round 202 metres broad.
There are two taxiways, one for planes to use after touchdown and one other for plane to use earlier than taking off.
The ECT will be the primary of its form in India. It will join Northern and Southern airfields and cut back taxi distance for an plane by 7 kilometres.
