Haridwar: Haridwar Police has beefed up security and increased patrolling on Saturday after a low-intensity explosion took place near the Israel Embassy in Delhi. The area has been put on high alert. “Haridwar is on high alert after the low-intensity explosion occurred in Delhi. Police have been instructed to increase patrolling,” Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Haridwar, Senthil Abudai Krishnaraj said.

A low-intensity explosion happened near the Israel Embassy on Friday. While no injuries were reported, officials reported that some cars were damaged in the blast, adding that three fire tenders were rushed to the embassy situated on APJ Abdul Kalam Road.

The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) issued an alert at all airports, important installations, and government buildings after the blast and security was been intensified at all government offices, notably also at the office of the Consulate General of Israel in Mumbai.

The explosion took place not too far away from Vijay Chowk, where several eminent personalities including President Ram Nath Kovind, Prime Minister Narendra Modi were in attendance at the ‘Beating Retreat’ ceremony.

According to sources, investigators have recovered an envelope with text reading “This was just a trailer”. “The envelope has a text related to an Israel embassy official. It is a case for investigating officers to see whether or not it has any link with the case. But, it has been recovered from the blast site,” a senior government official told news agency ANI.

After the blast, Home Minister Amit Shah took stock of the situation. He also canceled his planned visit to West Bengal today.
