NDMC Orders Probe, To Reassess Dangerous Buildings

“An inquiry has been ordered by the Commissioner, NDMC into this unfortunate incident to be conducted by the Building Department (HQ), and directed for submission of report within seven days. Further, necessary action against delinquent official, if any, will be taken after receipt of the report,” the NDMC knowledgeable in an announcement, PTI reported.

A contemporary evaluation of all the harmful buildings recognized within the final survey throughout the six zones of the NDMC shall be performed, he said.

“In order to prevent occurrence of such incidents in the future, a thorough survey of the areas will be conducted again in the next 48 hours especially, of the buildings which have been already identified as dangerous. Those buildings which will be found at imminent risk after the fresh survey will be vacated of its occupants by the corporation, as per the byelaws,” the assertion mentioned.

The company may even advocate to the federal government correct incentive measures for retrofitting or rehabilitation of such harmful buildings and the rehabilitation of occupants of the buildings until rehabilitation or retrofitting work is accomplished, the NDMC mentioned.

The constructing collapsed in north Delhi’s Sabzi Mandi space on Monday afternoon claimed the lives of two boys, aged seven and 12.

NDMC authorities earlier said the constructing was about 75-years-old. However, later within the assertion, it mentioned that the construction was about 50-60 years previous construction consisting of 4 flooring.
