In a major improvement, a Delhi court on Friday dismissed BJP MP and former Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) president Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh’s plea seeking further investigation within the sexual harassment case. The case was filed by girls wrestlers. Singh had contended that he was in another country on the date of the alleged incident.
What did the court say?
Rejecting the plea, Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (ACMM) Priyanka Rajpoot scheduled May 7 for a choice on whether or not to formally cost Singh within the case. Singh’s authorized consultant argued that the Delhi Police based mostly their investigation on the Call Detail Records (CDR) of the coach accompanying the complainant. They asserted that the alleged incident occurred on the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) workplace on September 7, 2022, as per the information. However, the CDR has not been positioned on file by police, the counsel claimed.
Chargesheet towards Singh
Delhi Police had filed a cost sheet within the case towards Singh, a six-time MP, on June 15 beneath sections 354 (assault or felony pressure to lady with intent to outrage her modesty), 354A (sexual harassment), 354D (stalking) and 506 (felony intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code. Police had additionally charged Vinod Tomar, the suspended assistant secretary of the WFI, within the case.
