Delhi govt collected Rs 28,573 crore as GST and VAT in 2021-22: Officials


New Delhi: Recovering step by step from the impression of the Covid pandemic, the Delhi authorities has managed to gather Rs 28,573 crore as GST and VAT in 2021-22 that’s over 35 p.c increased as in comparison with the final fiscal, officers stated on Thursday.

The items and providers tax (GST) and worth added tax (VAT) assortment of Delhi in 2020-21 was Rs 18,572 crore as a result of disruption of financial actions attributable to Covid-related restrictions, they stated.

In comparability to 2019-20, the GST and VAT assortment in 2020-21 had registered a detrimental progress of 19.53 per cent. The authorities had collected Rs 25,715 crore as GST and VAT in 2019-20, stated a tax official.

“The growth in GST and VAT is indicative of recovery and a sign that the collection target in 2022-23 will be achieved,” he stated.

The GST has a number of slabs for various items and providers. In Delhi, VAT is imposed on petroleum merchandise and liquor.

The GST and VAT assortment is estimated to be Rs 31,200 crore, which is 65.5 per cent of the tax income. Other parts of tax income embrace excise, stamp and registration price and taxes on motor automobiles.
