Delhi-NCR Air Quality Improves, Authorities Lift Curbs Imposed Under GRAP Stage II | India News


New Delhi: Pollution management authorities have revoked the curbs enforced within the Delhi-National Capital Region underneath Stage II of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) owing to an enchancment within the air high quality in the previous few days, officers mentioned right here. Delhi’s total air high quality index (AQI) improved from 291 on February 26 to 178 on March 1, based on an AQI bulletin offered by the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB). “…Forecast by IMD/IITM indicate the overall AQI of Delhi to be in ‘moderate’ category in the coming days,” the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) mentioned in a press release.

In view of this pattern of enchancment within the total AQI of the Delhi-NCR, the GRAP Sub-Committee accordingly determined to roll again actions underneath Stage II of GRAP (‘Very Poor’ AQI) in the whole NCR with fast impact, the CAQM mentioned.

Based on earlier choices of the sub-committee for invoking actions underneath the GRAP order dated October 19, 2022, for invocation of actions underneath Stage II, was revoked on February 1 this 12 months.

Further, actions underneath Stage II of GRAP had been re-implemented on February 16 in view of the air high quality forecasts by IITM/ IMD predicting the general AQI of Delhi to deteriorate from February 17, it mentioned.
