New Delhi: The Cyber Cell of the Delhi Police on Wednesday arrested 11 males for allegedly cheating greater than 5 lakh people to the tune of Rs 150 crore within the final two months, they usedĀ apps like Power Bank, SunFactory and EzPlan.

In a press launch, the Cyber Cell said that: “While Power Bank App was available on Google Play Store, the EZPlan app was available on the website www.ezplan.in. These apps provided profitable returns on funding with claims to double the funding quantity in 24-35 days. The apps additionally provided returns on an hourly and every day foundation, and had funding choices ranging from Rs 300 to a number of lakhs of rupees.”

Anyesh Roy, DCP (Special Cell-Cyber), mentioned the homeowners and creators of the app are Chinese nationals and approached the accused to assist them with financial institution accounts and shell firms in India.

ā€œWe received hundreds of complaints on social media about two apps ā€” Power Bank and EZ Plan. Some complainants claimed they lost lakhs of rupees. The Power Bank app was trending on the app store with thousands of downloads,ā€ mentioned Roy informed ANI.

The fraudsters have been discovered to be working in a number of modules throughout the nation. A Tibetan lady needed in a single such syndicate working from Bengaluru, was apprehended at IGIA Airport in a coordinated operation of Delhi and Bengaluru Police, the press launch mentioned.
