Delhi’s Air Quality In January-April This Year ‘Best’ Since 2016: Report | India News


New Delhi: Delhi’s air high quality from January to April this 12 months has been one of the best within the corresponding interval since 2016, barring 2020 which noticed a strict lockdown because of the Covid-19 pandemic, the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) mentioned on Sunday. Delhi recorded a median PM2.5 focus of 109 micrograms per cubic meter and a median PM10 focus of 221 micrograms per cubic meter from January to April, the bottom within the corresponding interval since 2016.

According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), there have been 52 days from January to April when the air high quality index (AQI) remained beneath 200. In 2016, there have been solely eight such days.

The full lockdown in 2020 resulted in a major enchancment in air high quality. If 2020 is excluded, the primary 4 months of 2023 have seen the cleanest air high quality in comparison with earlier years, the CAQM mentioned in an announcement.

An AQI between zero and 50 is taken into account “good”, 51 and 100 “satisfactory”, 101 and 200 “moderate”, 201 and 300 “poor”, 301 and 400 “very poor”, and 401 and 500 “severe”.
