Italy supervisor Roberto Mancini has signed a contract extension that may preserve him in cost till June 2026, the nation’s soccer federation (FIGC) president Gabriele Gravina stated on Monday.
Mancini’s unique contract was set to run out after the 2022 World Cup in Qatar and the brand new deal will see him keep on till the 2026 version.
“We wished to offer continuity to our work. Beyond profitable a trophy, there’s a mission to work on,” Gravina said.
“Mancini has been working brilliantly for two years and moving forward on this project was a duty out of respect for the federation and our fans.
“We made an important choice, supported by us in the federation and not by different sponsors or other parties.”
Mancini was appointed Italy supervisor in May 2018 after they didn’t qualify for the 2018 World Cup.
The 56-year-old has since taken cost of 28 matches, profitable 19 and dropping twice, guiding Italy to the European Championship with three video games to spare as they gained all 10 matches within the qualifying marketing campaign.
Mancini, who set a file in 2019 with 11 consecutive victories, additionally led Italy to the UEFA Nations League semi-finals the place they play Spain in October.
“I’m very blissful,” Mancini said. “We are trying to carry on the work that has paid off. Being able to put together a team that I like gives me a lot of satisfaction and I am optimistic for the future.
“In one year we will have the European Championship, the Nations League final phase and the World Cup. The goal is to be able to win while knowing that it will not be easy and that a little luck will also be needed.”
Italy are in Group A together with Turkey, Wales and Switzerland on the June 11-July 11 Euros and host the opening recreation in Rome the place they play Turkey.
