Domestic air travel is set to become costlier because the Civil Aviation Ministry on Friday raised the lower limit on fares by 13 to 16 per cent, in accordance to an official order. The improve in airfares will come into impact from June 1, it mentioned. The higher limits on fares stay unchanged.
The transfer is geared toward serving to the airways amid a devastating second wave of COVID-19 which has diminished air travel considerably.
India had imposed lower and higher limits on airfares primarily based on flight length when providers had been resumed on May 25 final 12 months after a two-month lockdown.
On Friday, the official order mentioned the lower limit for flights below 40 minutes of length will probably be elevated from Rs 2,300 to Rs 2,600 — a rise of 13 per cent.
Similarly, flights with length between 40 minutes and 60 minutes may have a lower limit of Rs 3,300 as an alternative of Rs 2,900 now, the order mentioned.Â
