New Delhi: The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has come out with proposed new guidelines for Sim Card conversion.

As per the new guidelines, customers can convert from Pre Paid to Post Paid quantity by an OTP based process. Details on the guidelines are additional awaited.

If carried out, the process could also be akin to the one which DoT had allowed few years again for upgradation of SIM upgradation to 3G or 4G from 2G.

To improve the SIM card to SIM upgradation to 3G or 4G from 2G, the subscriber must generate a request by buyer care or on-line or level of sale of the corporate. Once the request is acquired, the operator will problem a new SIM card to the subscriber.

The buyer will then make use of her present working SIM to offer the new SIM quantity to the service supplier both by SMS or IVR. After getting the intimation, the operator must ship a system-generated SMS to the subscriber to offer consent for SIM upgradation or alternate.

On receiving affirmative affirmation from the subscriber, the operator might provoke the process of deactivation of the outdated SIM card and activation of the new one.
