ED Arrests TMC Leader Shankar Adhya In Ration Scam, Taken To Hospital For Medical Exam


New Delhi: The Enforcement Directorate apprehended former Bongaon Municipality Chairman Shankar Adhya on Saturday midnight in reference to an alleged ration rip-off. The arrest of the TMC chief got here after an intensive search of his premises in West Bengal’s North 24 Parganas district, a day subsequent to an ED group being assaulted throughout raids within the case. Adhya was taken to a hospital in Kolkata for a medical examination on Saturday.

On Thursday evening, ED officers confronted an assault in North 24 Parganas district whereas en path to conduct raids on the residences of ex-Bongaon Municipality chairman Shankar Adhya and Trinamool Congress chief Sheikh Shahjahan in relation to the alleged ration ‘rip-off’ case.

The Trinamool Congress chief’s supporters began protesting exterior the chief’s residence whereas the raid was underway and afterward a mob attacked ED officers and vandalized their vehicles, based on ED officers. A member of the raiding ED group stated, “Eight people came to the spot. We three moved from the incident spot …they attacked us.”

Meanwhile, the Trinamool Congress leaders stated that the assault on the group of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in West Bengal was an “effect of provocation”.

TMC chief Kunal Ghosh alleged that the Central company is working in opposition to the chief of his social gathering on the behest of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

“What happened in Sandeskhali was an effect of provocation. In West Bengal, central agencies and forces on the instructions of the BJP are going to the residence of one or the other TMC leader or workers to harass, spread negative statements and provoke people. We are receiving such allegations and that’s what happened in Sandeshkhali yesterday,” Ghosh stated.

On Thursday evening, an Enforcement Directorate (ED) group was attacked and its autos broken in Sandeshkhali village of North 24 Parganas in West Bengal, when it tried to raid the residence of block-level leaders of the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) in reference to an alleged ration rip-off case, an official of the company stated.

As per experiences, the ED was conducting raids on the residence of former Bongaon Municipality Chairman Shankar Adhya in Bangaon and TMC chief Sheikh Shahjahan’s home in reference to the alleged ration rip-off case.
