Election Commission Moves Supreme Court Over Madras High Court’s ‘Murder Charges’ Comment

New Delhi: The Election Commission of India on Saturday moved the Supreme Court towards what it referred to as “blatantly disparaging remarks” by the Madras High Court over holding elections amid the lethal second wave of the coronavirus within the nation.

The Madras High Court had earlier on April 26  lashed out on the Election Commission over the Covid-19 second wave within the nation, holding it “singularly” liable for the unfold and referred to as it the “the most irresponsible institution”.

The High Court added that the Election Commission officers may be booked on homicide fees.

“Public health is of paramount importance and it is distressing that constitutional authorities have to be reminded in such regard. It is only when a citizen survives that he will be able to enjoy the rights that a democratic republic guarantees,” PTI quoted the Madras High Court judges as saying.

The Election Commission’s transfer comes forward of relying on Sunday within the 4 ballot gone states of Assam, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and West Bengal with one Union Territory of Puducherry.

Meanwhile, the Election Results for the Assemblies of 4 states and a Union Territory are to be held on May 2, 2021. A number of issues are at stake.
