As the ruling BJP is all set to announce its first checklist of greater than 175 candidates for the May 10 Karnataka meeting polls, former state chief minister Jagadish Shettar on Tuesday stated he has been requested by the celebration central management not to contest the polls “to make manner for others”.

Shettar, a 67-year-old sitting MLA from Hubli-Dharwad Central, said he has requested the BJP high command to give him an opportunity to contest as he has never lost a single poll.

Stating that he was “hurt” by the choice, Shettar stated that he has instructed the celebration management that it was not acceptable to him. “I acquired a message from the seniors within the celebration that I’m senior and a former chief minister. So, make manner for others. If that they had instructed me two to three months in the past, then it might have been respectable for me. When the nomination is simply two days away (to start), I’m undoubtedly damage. I’ve instructed them that I’ll contest the election. Whatever you could have stated is just not acceptable to me. So, please rethink your determination and provides me a chance to contest the election once more,” he was quoted as saying by PTI.

Meanwhile, the BJP will quickly announce its first checklist after a closing dialogue with Union Home Minister Amit Shah as soon as he returns to Delhi, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai stated on Tuesday after a gathering with celebration president JP Nadda on the latter’s residence within the nationwide capital.
