Amid massive uproar by the opposition regarding the farmers’ protest in Rajya Sabha, Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar spoke during the budget session and attacked the opposition. Tomar slammed the parties for misleading the farmers regarding the newly formed Agri Laws and said that the government has been asking the farmers and other people who have been protesting against the laws that what is black in Farm Laws?
“The world knows that farming is done with water. Only Congress can do farming with blood,” the Agri minister said in the Rajya Sabha.
“Farmer unions, opposition parties have failed to point out a single flaw in three new farm laws,” he said in the upper house, adding that the government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi are committed to the welfare of farmers.
“We are not standing on prestige. We have been asking what is black in this law and no one is forthcoming,” Tomar said while claiming that the protest by farmers is limited to one state.Â

Tomar further added, “I made it clear that if Govt is ready to make amendments, it doesn’t mean there is any problem in farm laws. People in a particular state are misinformed: Union Agriculture Minister NS Tomar.
Farmers are being misled that others would occupy their land if these laws are implemented. Let me know if there is a single provision in Contract Farming law which allows any trader to snatch away the land of any farmer,” the Union Agriculture Minister said in Rajya Sabha.
Tomar said that the government’s focus is to bring positive change in farmers’ lives. “Who would have thought that fruits and vegetables will be transported by rail? 100 Kisan Rails, which are in a way mobile cold storage, have been started. They are helping farmers get a fair price of their produce.”
“We have started to provide MSP, 50% more than the production cost. Also, Rs 1 lakh crore agriculture infrastructure fund has been given under the Atmanirbhar package. We have tried to ensure the requisite investment reaches the agriculture sector,” he said.
“Our efforts are that farmers’ incomes are doubled and contribution of agriculture to GDP increases rapidly. These agriculture laws are also an important step in this direction. I want to tell his House and farmers that PM Modi is committed towards the welfare of farmers,” he said.
While discussion on Farmers protest has rocked the Parliament since Day 1 of the Budget session, farmers are staying put at the Delhi borders continuing with their agitation. Farmers have also received support from international celebrities and the Bollywood and cricket fraternity have also spoken on the support of the farmers’ cause.
