New Delhi: Extending her support to the farmers protesting against the three contentious bills passed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government, Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi’s granddaughter Tara Gandhi Bhattacharjee on Saturday said the benefit of the country lies in the benefit of farmers.

Batting for the farmers, she said “there is so much truth in your reason that it speaks for itself”.

“I am with truth and will always stand by it,” she added while interacting with the farmers on the 78th day of the sit-in protest against the farm laws.

Bhattacharjee said the farmers should be benefitted by whatever happens.

“Nobody is unaware of the hard work that the farmers do and it is not to be said again that in the benefit of farmers lies the benefit of our country, and all of us,” she added.

Bhattacharjee made the remarks after visiting Ghazipur on the Delhi-Uttar Pradesh border to extend support to the farmers’ movement against the Centre’s contentious farm laws, according to a statement issued by the Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU).

One of the major demands of the farmers is that the Minimum Support Price (MSP) be made a legal provision to assure a better price to them.
