With the ongoing Farmers’ Tractor Rally against the three farm laws turning violent, internet services have been snapped in some parts of Delhi and NCR in view of the prevailing law and order situation. News agency PTI reports that internet at Singhu Border, Ghazipur Border, Tikri Border, Nangloi and Mubaraka Chowk and adjoining areas have been snapped temporarily.
Delhi Metro Railway Corporation (DMRC) has also closed the gates of several metro stations, mainly in central, north and east Delhi, to ensure that no untoward incident takes place. The entry and exit gates of Jama Masjid, Dilshad Garden, Jhilmil and Mansarovar Park are among those closed by the DMRC. The DMRC took to Twitter to inform the public about the temporary closure of metro station gates.
Meanwhile, Home Minister Amit Shah has called an emergency meeting in the wake of the clashes that erupted in the national capital.
The movement of vehicles too has been badly hit after several key roads were blocked or traffic was diverted. Entry to Delhi from neighbouring Gurgaon has been blocked at both points; from MG Road and from the Delhi-Jaipur highway.
Clashes were witnessed in several parts of Delhi today as the police used tear gas on the protesting farmers and resorted to baton-charge.
This as the protestors broke past barricades with tractors at different border points and did not take the pre-decided routes for their march in the national capital.
