FCI corruption case: CBI searches at 30 locations in Punjab

The Central Bureau (*30*) (CBI) on Tuesday carried out searches at 30 locations in Punjab on corruption prices in opposition to Food Corporation of India (FCI). 

According to media stories, FCI officers allegedly procured inferior grains to profit retailers and rice millers. 

The CBI groups began coordinated raids at the premises of grain retailers, rice mill house owners, and serving and retired officers of the FCI in a number of districts of Punjab, together with Sirhind, Fatehpur Sahib and Monga, as a part of ‘Operation Kanak 2’, they mentioned.

This is second spherical of searches in the FIR pertaining to an organised syndicate of officers at the FCI, who allegedly charged bribes of Rs 1000-4000 per truck unloaded at the FCI godowns from non-public millers per crop season for protecting up decrease high quality grains equipped by them and different favours.

The bribes have been allegedly circulated to officers at each stage reaching as much as headquarters in a well-defined share of cuts at every stage, it alleged.

The FIR gave particulars of such bribe assortment in many FCI depots throughout Punjab.


 

Officials starting from technical assistants to govt administrators have been allegedly a part of a syndicate receiving bribes from non-public millers, they mentioned.

“The bribe amount is collected at the depot level by FCI officials on a per truck basis being unloaded at the FCI depot during storage of grains. Thereafter this bribe amount is distributed to the different ranks of FCI,” the CBI has alleged.
