A hearth broke out on the compound of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur on Thursday night, fireplace brigade sources mentioned. There was no lack of life or property.
Firefighters fought for a while and contained the blaze which broke out in bushes, sources within the Kharagpur Fire station mentioned.
Dry leaves caught fireplace in an space filled with crops on the campus within the night, an IIT Kharagpur instructor instructed PTI.
“All the buildings are located some distance away from where the fire had broken out,” he mentioned.
Three fireplace tenders have been pressed into service, sources mentioned.Â
