A fireplace broke out in an electrical energy meter field room of a residential constructing right here in Maharashtra, destroying 28 power meters, a civic official mentioned on Sunday. The blaze erupted round 11.15 pm on Saturday in the power meter room positioned on the bottom flooring of the S P Society in Kalwa space, Thane Municipal Corporation’s Regional Disaster Management Cell chief Santosh Kadam mentioned.
No casualty was reported, he mentioned.
Firemen, electrical energy and police personnel rushed to the spot and the blaze was doused inside an hour, he mentioned.
After the hearth broke out, round 35 residents of the constructing rushed to its terrace and obtained caught there.
They had been later rescued by fireplace personnel, Kadam mentioned.
“No one was injured in the fire. A total of 28 power meters were completely gutted in the blaze. A probe is on to ascertain the cause of the fire,” the official mentioned.
The power provide to the constructing was affected for a few hours after the incident, he added.Â
