Former Congress leader, who converted to BJP, Aleixo Sequeira was inducted within the state cabinet hours after Public Works Department (PWD) Minister Nilesh Cabral resigned on Sunday. The 66-year-old leader was sworn in at Raj Bhavan by Governor P S Sreedharan Pillai within the presence of Chief Minister Pramod Sawant.
Earlier within the day, Cabral, who held portfolios, together with PWD, surroundings and regulation and judiciary, resigned to make approach for the induction of Sequeira. Cabral (51) represents the Curchorem meeting constituency. Sequeira was among the many eight MLAs who converted from the opposition Congress to the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) within the coastal state final 12 months.
Talking to reporters, Sequeira mentioned after they joined the BJP, the chief minister had made a dedication that there can be growth of their constituencies. Sequeira mentioned he was pleased to be inducted into the cabinet and would work for the event of the state.
In his resignation letter despatched to the chief minister, Cabral mentioned he was stepping down to permit the social gathering to fulfil its “commitments previously made”. Confirming the event, CM Sawant earlier advised PTI that Cabral’s resignation had been despatched to Governor Pillai for acceptance.
It was the social gathering’s determination to ask Cabral to step right down to make approach for an additional MLA within the cabinet, the senior BJP leader mentioned. Legislator Aleixo Sequeira can be inducted into the cabinet at 7 pm on Sunday, the CM had mentioned earlier.
In his resignation letter, Cabral mentioned he was resigning with a “heavy heart” from the esteemed place of minister of the PWD, surroundings, legislative affairs, and regulation and judiciary departments. “As requested by you and senior members of the party, due to commitments you have previously made, I tender my resignation from your cabinet of ministers,” his resignation letter mentioned.
Cabral additional said he was immensely grateful for the invaluable alternatives and help supplied to him throughout his tenure in serving the individuals of this stunning state. “Please accept this letter as a formal notification of my resignation. I wish you and the administration continued success in your endeavours to lead Goa towards prosperity and progress,” he added.
