Full lockdown in four districts of Madhya Pradesh to curb COVID-19 spread

New Delhi: Madhya Pradesh imposed lockdown in four districts together with city areas of Chhindwara district and Ratlam metropolis, Betul and Khargone in the wake of surge in COVID-19 instances. 

The lockdown was carried out in Chhindwara’s city areas and Ratlam metropolis on Thursday (April 1) from 10 pm. While Betul district was positioned below lockdown from 10 pm and concrete areas of Khargone district from 8 pm on Friday. The curbs on all four districts will proceed until 6 am on April 5. 

Earlier, the state authorities had imposed Sunday Lockdown in 12 districts together with these four amid a peak in COVID-19 instances. 

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Friday advised reporters that separate groups of senior officers have been despatched to these four districts to assess the coronavirus scenario there and supply help to the native administration in the struggle in opposition to the pandemic.

“In view of the spurt in coronavirus cases in Chhindwara, which shares border with Maharashtra, and to effectively control it, a three-day lockdown has been imposed in the district,” he was quoted as saying by PTI. 

In addition, he requested individuals to keep at dwelling to rejoice festivals, whereas urging eligible individuals to get COVID-19 vaccination. 

As per Ministry of Health knowledge, 18,057 energetic COVID-19 instances have been recorded with 961 new instances as of April 2. With 12 extra deaths in the final 24 hours, the dying toll in the state stood at 3,998.
