Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’ has been making waves ever since the makers unveiled the teaser. The teaser of the much-awaited film has received a mindboggling response from the audience. Speculations were rife that Bollywood superstar Ajay Devgn would be seen in a special appearance in ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’.
ABP News has received exclusive information that Ajay would soon commence shooting for the biographical crime film. Yes, you read that right! The ‘Singham’ star will start the shoot from Saturday (February 27). He is reportedly playing the role of underworld don Karim Lala in ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’. Sources close to the film have not revealed any details about Devgn’s character.
A huge set has been created for ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’ in Goregaon’s Film City. Ajay will shoot crucial scenes for the film for few days on the same set.
Interestingly, Ajay Devgn was earlier seen as Sultan Mirza in ‘Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai’. His character was heavily based on mafia gang leader Haji Mastan. The Milan Lutharia directorial also starred Kangana Ranaut, Emraan Hashmi and Prachi Desai in key roles. The gangster drama had managed to set the cash registers jingling upon its release at the box office in 2010.
Talking about ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’, the film is based on a chapter of Hussain Zaidi’s novel ‘Mafia Queens of Mumbai’. Alia Bhatt is playing the titular role in the movie. It also stars Shantanu Maheshwari, Seema Pahwa and Vijay Raaz in pivotal roles.
The highly anticipated flick will hit the silver screens on July 30, 2021.
