Ghaziabad: 3 held for supplying used surgical gloves in market

Three folks have been arrested in Ghaziabad on Wednesday for allegedly supplying used surgical gloves in the market to make some fast cash amid a excessive demand for such protecting medical gear because of the COVID-19 pandemic, police mentioned. The accused have been recognized as Guddu, Azeem and Parvez, all residents of Delhi, they mentioned.

Based on a tip-off, a raid was carried out at a manufacturing unit in Tronica City space. The accused have been washing and repacking the used surgical gloves earlier than supplying them in the market, Superintendent of Police (rural) Iraj Raja mentioned.

They rented a plot and began the recycling unit after seeing the large demand for gloves because of the ongoing second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, he mentioned.

Ninety-eight gunny baggage containing used surgical gloves and 60 containing washed gloves have been seized through the raid on the manufacturing unit. As many as 800 packing bins, three washing machines, one dryer and a few chemical compounds have been additionally seized, Raja mentioned.

The accused informed police that they purchased the used surgical gloves from hospitals for supplying them in the market after recycling. A case has been filed in opposition to the trio beneath related sections of the Indian Penal Code, the police mentioned.

Action may also be initiated in opposition to the plot proprietor, Jai Pal Singh, whether it is discovered that he had rented out his plot to the accused understanding about their illegal actions, Raja mentioned.
