Govt cancels more FCRA licences of NGOs over ‘violations’, second time in a month – India TV

With the cancellation of their Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA) registration, these NGOs will not be capable of obtain international contributions nor utilise the prevailing out there funds.The Central authorities cancelled the Foreign Contribution Registration Act (FCRA) licences of six non-governmental organisations (NGOs) for allegedly violating the FCRA tips. According to ET, the Home Ministry took motion towards the NGOs after analyzing the paperwork.

The media report said that the six NGOs that confronted Centre’s warmth had been – the Delhi Diocese Overseas Grant Fund, Institute of Economic Growth (IEG), Samuel Foundation Charitable India Trust, Diocesan Society Church of North, Jesus and Mary Delhi Educational Society and Hemophilia Federation of India (HFI).

Home Ministry cancels FCRA registration of 5 NGOs 


 

Earlier in the primary week of April, the Union Home Ministry cancelled the registration of not less than 5 NGOs for alleged violation of varied provisions of the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act, sources mentioned on Tuesday.

The NGOs whose registrations have been cancelled are CNI Synodical Board of Social Service, Voluntary Health Association of India, Indo-Global Social Service Society, Church’s Auxiliary for Social Action, and Evangelical Fellowship of India.

The sources mentioned the house ministry cancelled the FCRA registration of the NGOs for allegedly utilising funds for works that weren’t in their mandate. The NGOs violated the legal guidelines by being concerned in actions which can be opposite to the provisions of the FCRA, they mentioned.

There had been 16,301 NGOs with legitimate FCRA licences as on July 17, 2023. The Centre has cancelled the FCRA licences of more than 6,600 NGOs in the final 5 years for violation of the regulation. Overall, FCRA licences of 20,693 NGOs have been cancelled in the final decade.

According to information disclosed in Parliament final 12 months, Rs 55,741.51 crore was obtained in international contributions by 13,520 FCRA-registered associations or NGOs between the 2019-2020 and the 2021-2022 monetary years.
