Gurugram: A 22-year-old lady was arrested Thursday for allegedly falsely accusing two males of gang-raping her and extorting from them Rs 2 lakh for withdrawing her criticism, police stated. The lady works as an online designer with a Noida-based non-public media Management Company.
She had earlier lodged the same criticism at Aman Vihar Police Station in Rohini in Delhi, police stated, including she was produced in a metropolis courtroom Thursday and was despatched to judicial custody.
According to police, the lady had filed rape complaints in opposition to two males on March 17 at Sector 53 Police Station. She additionally extorted from them Rs 2 lakh, which was transferred into her account by the brother of one of many victims.
“She further demanded from them Rs 4 lakh more. A police team led by Inspector Amit Kumar, SHO of Sector 53 Police Station, arrested her during the investigation of the case,” Virender Vij, DCP, east, stated.
According to police, when the lady was produced within the courtroom for recording her assertion underneath part 164 of CrPC, she retracted her assertion.
“Later we got the information that she had also filed a similar rape complaint in Delhi earlier. On suspicion, we started the investigation and her allegations were found to be false,” stated Inspector Amit Kumar.
The lady has been booked underneath sections 384 (extortion), 385 (placing an individual in worry of harm to be able to commit extortion), and 389 (placing an individual in worry of demise or grievous harm to be able to commit extortion) of the IPC at Sector 53 Police Station, stated police.
The lady had filed a criticism in opposition to a Facebook good friend of hers and his companion, accusing them of taking her to a PG within the Sector 53 space and raping her there.
