New Delhi: In view of COVID-19, the federal government has accepted the request of stakeholders to give jewellers some extra time to get ready for implementation and resolve points. Hallmarking of Gold Jewellery is ready to begin from June 15, 2021 which was earlier anticipated to be applied from June 1.

Under Hallmarking scheme of Bureau of Indian Standards, Jewellers are registered for promoting hallmarked jewelry and recognise testing and Hallmarking centres. BIS (Hallmarking) Regulations, have been applied w.e.f. 14.06.2018. Hallmarking will allow Consumers/Jewellery patrons to make a proper selection and save them from any pointless confusion whereas shopping for gold.
