Hardoi: A man took his daughter’s severed head to the police station on Wednesday after allegedly beheading the 17-year-old. He said that he did so in a fit of rage after seeing his daughter in an objectionable position. The incident took place in Pandetara village.
Sarvesh Kumar said that he severed his daughter’s head with a sharp object. People were panic stricken when they saw Kumar walking towards the police station with the head. Later, the man was then brought to the Majhila police station, 143 km west of Lucknow, officials told PTI. Top police officers of the district reached the spot following the incident.

According to the PTI report, Superintendent of Police Anurag Vats said the father had been arrested and further action was being taken.
In a TOI report Anurag Vats was quoted as saying, “Sarvesh is a vegetable vendor. A few days ago, he spotted his daughter in a compromising position with a youth. He made up his mind to teach his daughter a lesson. Sarvesh’s wife has also testified this in her statement to the police.”
A video of a Majhila constable holding the severed head and walking around the police station went viral. The constable was suspended after Lucknow IG Laxmi Singh took cognisance of the matter said the TOI report.
In a data reported by National Crime Record Bureau in September last year showed Uttar Pradesh topped the list of states with the highest number of crimes against women in 2019. There are about 7,444 cases registered under the POCSO Act in Uttar Pradesh, which is the highest number in record.
