High drama in Rajya Sabha: TMC MP Shantanu Sen snatches statement from IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw

High drama unfolded in the Rajya Sabha on Thursday because the Opposition staged protest over a variety of points. Things bought significantly ugly when Trinamool Congress MP Santanu Sen snatched statement paper from Electronics and Information Technology Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw as he rose to talk on the Pegasus snooping controversy. Sen then tore the paper and threw it in direction of the Deputy Chairman. As quickly as Vaishnaw, who was scheduled to make a statement over the alleged telephone tapping challenge, rose to talk, the opposition MPs rushed to the Well of the House and raised slogans towards the federal government.

Deputy Chairman Harivash urged the protesting MPs to desist from unparliamentary behaviour and return to their respective seats and let the Minister full his statement. As Vaishnav began making the statement, TMC MP Shantanu Sen went to his seat and snatched the paper from the Minister and tore it aside, thus stopping him from talking.

As papers had been flung into the air, the Minister couldn’t full his statement and as a substitute laid a replica of it on the desk of the House.

The Chair then adjourned the House until 11 am tomorrow. Earlier as we speak, the House was adjourned twice after Opposition MPs raised the difficulty of alleged snooping utilizing Pegasus spy ware and others.

The Monsoon Session of the Parliament started on Monday. Both the Houses — Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, have did not transact any enterprise thus far because of the steady uproar by the Opposition members.
