The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways on Sunday alerted NHAI, NHIDCL and its different wings moreover car makers to increase their IT security methods after experiences relating to threats of attainable cyber assaults focused on the Indian transport sector. The ministry stated it has obtained an alert from the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) about attainable cyber assaults.
“The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways received an alert from CERT-In regarding targeted intrusion activities directed towards Indian Transport sector with possible malicious intentions. The Ministry has advised departments and organisations under transport sector to strengthen the security posture of their infrastructure,” the Ministry stated in an announcement.
It has requested NIC, National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation (NHIDCL), Indian Road Congress (IRC), Indian Academy of Highway Engineers (IAHE), State PWDs, Testing businesses and Automobile producers to conduct the security audit of your complete IT system by CERT-In licensed businesses.
It suggested such security audits regularly moreover taking all actions as per their suggestions.
Also, it requested the audit report and the motion taken report to be usually submitted to the ministry.
Last 12 months in June additionally NHAI has reported a cyberattack on its e mail server and had stated that immediate motion resulted in no information loss. It had shut down its server then as a precaution.
