New Parliament Building News: Amid a large controversy over the new Parliament advanced, which is ready to be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on May 28, Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday introduced that the historic sceptre – ‘Sengol’ – will be placed contained in the new constructing. 

“Sengol will be placed in new Parliament building. It was used on August 14, 1947, by PM Nehru when the transfer of power took place from the British. It is called Sengol in Tamil, the meaning of this word is full of wealth,” Amit Shah stated throughout a press convention in New Delhi.

Sengol – What’s the importance

On August 14, 1947, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru obtained the Sengol from Tamil Nadu in the presence of a number of leaders and prime dignitaries. This symbolised the switch of energy from the Britishers to the individuals of an ‘Independent India’.

In Tamil tradition, ‘Sengol’ has large significance because the time of Chola dynasty. The sceptre is probably going to be placed close to the Lok Sabha Speaker’s chair in the new Parliament constructing. 

Opposition boycott

Congress and eighteen different opposition events have determined to boycott the inauguration of the new Parliament Building, saying that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s resolution to inaugurate the constructing with out President Droupadi Murmu “insults the high office of the President, and violates the letter and spirit of the Constitution”. Amit Shah stated invites for the inauguration of the new Parliament Building have been despatched to all political events who have been free to act in accordance to their knowledge.

In a joint assertion, the like-minded opposition events stated that Prime Minister’s resolution to inaugurate the constructing by himself is “a direct assault on our democracy, which demands a commensurate response.” The new Parliament constructing will be inaugurated on May 28.
