Hyderabad Airport Metro will be tackling two hillocks on the way

Hyderabad Airport Metro Limited Managing Director N.V.S. Reddy inspecting proposed work at Rajendranagar hillock on Wednesday.

The 31-km ₹6,250-crore  Hyderabad Airport Express Metro will be constructed 2 km alongside the central median from Raidurg to the Biodiversity Park; about 3 km over the Roda Mistry College lane and central median of Khajaguda highway; and one other 5 km alongside the Outer Ring Road (ORR) service highway from Nanakramguda Junction until Telangana State Police Academy junction.

For about 17-odd km, it will be constructed to the left of the ORR until the Shamshabad Junction from the place the metro alignment will enter the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) in direction of the proper. The metro line will be introduced all the way down to traverse on the floor for a kilometre earlier than going below for about 2.5 km previous to reaching the terminal underground station.

The twin flyovers quickly after the Raidurg station will be crossed with the overhead line towering 22 metres above the floor or at a peak of about 72 ft. Incidentally, it will assist cross over a hillock after the Biodiversity Park and instantly after the Rajendranagar toll gate, the metro will encounter a second one referred to as Rajendranagar hillock.

Hyderabad Airport Metro Line (HAML) officers led by Managing Director N.V.S. Reddy had inspected the web site on Wednesday because it was proving to be one other engineering problem with the piers and viaduct to be constructed amid the arduous rock with undulating terrain of steep heights and valleys for about 1.3 km

“The metro viaduct will be built at a height of 15 metres almost on the edge of the hillock adjacent to ORR, in the absence of a service road there. We will have a combination of piers to be built upto 10 metres or on stubs (low height piers) nearer to the surface to minimise rock cutting. We will stabilise the boulders with protective barriers to prevent rollovers,” defined Mr. Reddy.

Crossdrains are to be constructed with adequate carrying capability at the valley factors to permit the rain water movement into the ORR drainage system for the short-term highway of upto 300 metres on the hillock to facilitate building of the piers and viaduct. Chief venture supervisor B Anand Mohan, General Manager M Vishnuvardhan Reddy, Superintending Engineer Y Sayapa Reddy, Deputy chief engineer (Railway) J.N. Gupta and different senior officers participated in the inspection.
