International Business Machines Corp expects to pause hiring for roles as roughly 7,800 jobs might be changed by synthetic intelligence (AI) within the coming years, its CEO Arvind Krishna instructed Bloomberg News on Monday.

Hiring particularly in back-office features akin to human sources will likely be suspended or slowed, Krishna mentioned, including that 30 per cent of non-customer-facing roles might be changed by AI and automation in 5 years.

His remark comes at a time when AI has caught the creativeness of individuals world wide after the launch of Microsoft Corp-backed OpenAI’s viral chatbot, ChatGPT, in November final 12 months.
