In This Kashmir Village, You Can Get A Gold Coin In Return For Plastic Waste | India News

In a far-flung village Sadiwara in South Kashmir’s Anantnag District, the village panchayat has began a novel mission for saving the atmosphere. The village head has began a marketing campaign known as ‘Give Plastic and Take Gold’. Under the scheme, if somebody provides plastic waste of 20 quintals, then Panchayat will give him a Gold coin.

Farooq Ahmad Ganai, a lawyer by occupation and sarpanch of the village Sadiwara has turn out to be an inspiration for everybody within the Kashmir Valley. After the beginning of the marketing campaign, the entire village was declared plastic free inside 15 days. The marketing campaign has gained loads of recognition and has been appreciated by all and even been adopted by different panchayats too.

Advocate Farooq Ahmad Ganai mentioned, “I started a slogan in my village to give polythene in return for a reward. I took the initiative to clean the rivers and streams. Now everyone in the village helped us to clear the sites.”

Last month Deputy Commissioner Anantnag introduced this village plastic free. The gold that we’re giving is from the plastic we promote after gathering.

Ganai added, “We will soon be a green village. I will not stop at my village but also take it to all districts of the Union Territory and later start it from Kashmir and end the campaign in Kanyakumari.”

The water streams flowing by means of the village have been fully cleaned and all of the plastic that had choked these streams has been taken out.

“Cleanliness is half of our honour. We have been working with Sarpanch for 4 months now, to verify our village will get clear. It’s his onerous work that’s ensuring our village is clear. We are certain we are going to give plastic and get gold,” mentioned Sakeena Begum, a villager.

The Village which had heaps of plastic thrown on the roads and streets is now fully clear and all of the plastic that’s collected is handed over to the Panchayat members. This village is setting an instance for all different villages and the federal government can be attempting to duplicate the identical concept in each village of the Union territory.
