Indian cricket team’s sensational left-arm fast bowler T Natarajan too received a grand welcome when he reached his native village Chinnappampatti in Salem district on Thursday. Natarajan was received by around 5000 villagers, who took their hero on a horse-drawn tastefully-decorated chariot for two kilometres.

Video of Natarajan’s heroic reception has gone viral on social media. Although the Health Department had advised Natarajan to be quarantined at home, the villagers, irrespective of this, welcomed their hero in a grand manner.

Natarajan, who belongs to a very ordinary family in Tamil Nadu, has worked extremely hard to attain such success in cricket. During his welcome, Natarajan was seen thanking everyone with folded hands.

“Close to 5,000 people were present. The entire village had turned up to wish him. He reached his house in the evening and saw his daughter for the first time,” an official told IANS.

The Health Department has asked Natarajan to stay quarantined at home for 14 days. He is forbidden to meet anyone. However, before leaving Australia, all Indian players, including Natarajan, were tested for Coronavirus and all of them tested negative for the dreaded virus.

Natarajan became a father only a few months ago. When he went to play IPL 2020, his wife gave birth to a daughter but Natarajan could not see his daughter because he went on tour to Australia after participating in the T20 League. Now, after about four months, he met his daughter.
