Balbir Singh Junior, who was a part of the Indian hockey group that received silver on the 1958 Asian Games, has handed away on the age of 88.
The hockey nice performed alongside the likes of Balbir Singh Dosanjh, popularly referred to as Balbir Singh Senior, in addition to Leslie Claudius, Prithipal Singh, Balkishan and Charles Stephen, amongst others. He breathed his final on Sunday morning.
Singh hailed from Sansarpur in Jalandhar, Punjab. Like many kids from the village, he too took to hockey early in his life on the age of six. He was chosen to play for India in 1951 when the nationwide group toured Afghanistan.
Balbir Singh Junior was a part of the Indian group that received silver on the Asian Games held in Tokyo, Japan in 1958.
He was additionally a part of the Punjab state hockey group and captained the Punjab University squad. Later in his profession, he additionally represented the Indian Railways hockey group that toured European nations equivalent to Spain, Switzerland and Italy. They additionally performed Test matches within the Netherlands.
