Indian Rowers Wait After Olympic Qualifiers Postponed

The qualification regatta in Tokyo will probably be organised within the males’s and ladies’s single scull, light-weight double scull and para single scull.

Indian rowers have been greeted with windy circumstances on the Olympic regatta course in Tokyo’s Sea Forest Waterway which pressured the cancellation of the World Rowing Asia and Oceania Olympic and Paralympic Qualification Regatta.

“A nine-member Indian squad, together with 4 within the girls’s class, are taking part within the Asian Olympic qualification occasion. The programme has been revised resulting from tough native climate circumstances. The competitors will begin on Thursday and conclude on Friday,” as told by an official of the Rowing Federation of India

The qualification regatta in Tokyo will be organised in the men’s and women’s single scull, lightweight double scull and para single scull.

India’s Jakar Khan will be the one to watch in the men’s single scull that has attracted 14 entries. Only five will get an Olympic quota.

“The competition is expected to be fierce as athletes are making the most of the opportunity to race and secure a spot for the Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games. India is participating in all the events,” added the RFI official.

There are 14 entries within the girls’s single scull however 5 will get Olympic quota locations. In the light-weight males’s double scull, 9 athletes will compete however there are three Olympic quotas within the occasion. In the light-weight girls’s double scull there are 12 entries and three quota locations.
