IndiGo on Thursday mentioned its Airbus aircraft are anticipated to be a bit lighter in weight following aviation security regulator DGCA granting it approval to remove Technical Paper Manuals. The regulatory nod permits the airline to remove Technical Paper Manuals weighing 40 kg from every aircraft cockpit of its Airbus fleet, IndiGo mentioned in a press release.

The Gurugram-based low-cost service has been taking initiatives to cut back the burden on its aircraft, which ends up in much less gasoline burn. In 2015, the airline grew to become the primary within the area to launch an Electronic Flight Bag (EFB), decreasing 25 kg of paper on its Airbus fleet and changing paper charts and manuals with iPads.

The adoption price was phenomenal, with digital manuals making it simpler for the crew to maneuver, with added hyperlinks and color graphics, as per the airline.

In continuation of the Less Paper Cockpit (LPC) programme, IndiGo has now been authorised by DGCA to remove the remaining set of onboard paper manuals, the airline mentioned.

The robustness of the airline’s processes, iOS ecosystem, and world practices adopted with trials and security danger evaluation had been proving factors for the regulator to authorise LPC programme, it said.
