Indonesia’s navy stated on Wednesday it has requested Singapore and Australia for assist in the search for a submarine with 53 crew aboard after dropping contact with the vessel off the coast of Bali.

“We are still searching in the waters of Bali, 60 miles (96 km) from Bali, (for) 53 people,” stated navy chief Hadi Tjahjanto.

“It’s true that the KRI Nanggala 402 lost contact since early this morning around 3:00 am,” stated First Admiral Julius Widjojono. “(The navy) is currently searching for it. We know the area but it’s quite deep.”
