Ahead of the Madhya Pradesh meeting polls, police have registered a non-cognisable offence report (NCR) in opposition to a person in Indore over a video purportedly projecting BJP candidate Kailash Vijayvargiya as Lanka king Ravan and his Congress rival Sanjay Shukla as Lord Ram, an official stated on Thursday.

Vijayvargiya and Shukla are contesting the November 17 state polls from Indore-1 meeting seat.

BJP authorized cell’s Indore-1 meeting seat in-charge Harshal Singh Raghuvanshi lodged a criticism on the Aerodrome police station that an individual named Rakesh shared a controversial video on Dussehra (October 24) in a WhatsApp group, the police official stated.

In the video, depicting a Ram-Ravan battle scene in a tv serial, the photographs of Vijayvargiya and Shukla have been super-imposed on the faces of these enacting Lanka king Ravan and Lord Ram, respectively, he stated.

In reference to the video, a NCR has been registered in opposition to an individual named Rakesh underneath Indian Penal Code Sections 298 (uttering phrases, and so forth, with deliberate intent to wound non secular emotions) and 500 (punishment for defamation), Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Aditya Mishra instructed PTI. Citing authorized provisions, he stated that after registration of the NCR by police, if a complainant desires, he can file a go well with in a courtroom on the private degree.

The complainant, Raghuvanshi, stated acceptable authorized steps could be taken in reference to the controversial video launched on the time of the ballot marketing campaign.
