New Delhi: Nitika Kaul the spouse of Major Vibhuti Shankar Dhoundiyal, who was martyred in Pulwama, has adopted his footsteps by donning the Army uniform.
The commander of the Army’s northern command Lt Gen YK Joshi on Saturday was seen piping stars on her shoulders at a ceremony held on the Officers Training Academy in Chennai, Tamil Nadu.

The PRO Udhampur, Ministry of Defence shared the inspirational video on its official Twitter deal with, drawing spontaneous praises for Kaul and the Army.
“Major Vibhuti Shankar Dhoundiyal, made the Supreme Sacrifice at Pulwama in 2019, was awarded SC (P). Today his wife Nitika Kaul dons Indian Army uniform; paying him a befitting tribute. A proud moment for her as Lt Gen Y K Joshi, Army Cdr NC himself pips the Stars on her shoulders!”, the PRO Udhampur wrote on Twitter.
Major Dhoundiyal had laid down his life whereas combating terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama. He was awarded Shaurya Chakra (posthumously) for his supreme sacrifice for the nation.
In February 2019, Indians throughout wept for Nitika Kaul as she mentioned “I Love You” to her husband’s mortal stays. A 12 months later, she handed all the mandatory exams to affix the Indian Army.
