LAUSANNE, Switzerland: Russian and Belarusian athletes is not going to be allowed to participate within the conventional parade on the opening ceremony on the Paris Olympics, the IOC mentioned Tuesday.

The opening ceremony on July 26 will see hundreds of athletes journey on boats down the River Seine for a number of miles (kilometers) towards the Eiffel Tower, as a substitute of the conventional parade of groups inside a stadium.

The IOC mentioned athletes from Russia and Belarus who’re authorised to compete on the Olympics as neutrals could have an opportunity solely “to experience the event” — possible watching from close to the river.
