Issue notice to contractors for delay in projects, Minister tells officials

Minister for Public Works and Highways E.V. Velu on Saturday directed officials to challenge show-cause notices to contractors for initiatives that had been unduly delayed.

The Minister, who chaired a evaluation assembly, mentioned that chief engineers should make sure that the works had been accomplished throughout the stipulated time. He mentioned that Chief Minister M. Ok. Stalin wished work to be accomplished on time in order that highway customers can be put to minimal inconvenience. 

A complete of 276 bridges had been underneath development at a mixed price of ₹ 1,586 crore with funding from the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (Nabard).

In Chennai metropolitan space, work was underneath approach to construct two river bridges, two flyovers and three rail bridges. As a part of the Chennai- Kanniyakumari Industrial Corridor, 23 flyovers had been underneath development. As a part of nationwide highways, works, together with 4 river bridges, eight rail bridges and 9 flyovers, had been being constructed at a price of ₹1,174 crore.
