Jay Shah dismisses IPL shift to UAE rumours as schedule likely to clash with Lok Sabha election dates

The BCCI secretary Jay Shah reportedly confirmed that the Indian Premier League 2024 won’t be shifted abroad on Saturday, March 16. 

Reports of the BCCI wanting to organise the remaining IPL 2024 video games in UAE emerged when the Election Commission of India introduced the schedule for the Lok Sabha elections 2024 which takes place in seven phases from April 19 to June 4.

However, in accordance to the Cricbuzz report, Jay Shah confirmed that the complete IPL 2024 version will happen in India. The seventeenth version of the the IPL is about to kick off on March 22 in Chennai as the BCCI launched the schedule for the primary 21 video games on February 22. 

“The entire IPL will be held in India,” Jay Shah advised PTI. “We will be formulating the remaining schedule very soon and announce it.”

The BCCI beforehand held the IPL event abroad through the 2009 (South Africa) and 2014 (UAE) common elections and in 2020 and 2021 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Meanwhile, Jay Shah revealed that over 3,50,000 followers have attended the continuing Women’s Premier League to this point. Royal Challengers Bangalore’s thrilling five-run win towards Mumbai Indians within the eliminator clash on Friday witnessed a sold-out sport at New Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium and Shah confirmed tickets are bought out for Sunday’s remaining.

“Tomorrow’s sold-out final is a fitting climax to what has been an electrifying journey.
