A Delhi Court on Monday turned down a plea for interim bail filed by jailed BRS chief K Kavitha. Earlier, the lawmaker from Telangana had urged the court on April 4 for enlarging her on interim bail on account of her 16-year-old son’s exams for which he wanted his mom’s “moral and emotional support”. Kavitha, daughter of former Telangana chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao, has been accused of being a key member of the “South Group”, which allegedly paid the ruling AAP in Delhi kickbacks of Rs 100 crore in return for a giant share of liquor licences within the nationwide capital. Meanwhile, the BRS chief, arrested in a cash laundering case linked to the alleged Delhi excise coverage rip-off, on Saturday moved a metropolis court urging it to recall its order permitting the CBI to interrogate her in Tihar jail.

The CBI is probing the corruption angle within the excise coverage case.

Kavitha’s advocate Nitesh Rana advised the court that the CBI thwarted the due technique of legislation by submitting a plea in search of permission to query her “behind her back”.

“I have grave apprehension that CBI may not have divulged true facts in order to obtain a favourable order from the court,” Rana mentioned.

He urged the court to maintain its Friday order permitting Kavitha’s questioning in judicial custody in abeyance till she has been heard.

The court heard the submission and posted the matter for listening to on April 10 after the CBI sought time to answer to Kavitha’s plea.

Special Judge for ED and CBI circumstances Kaveri Baweja, nonetheless, didn’t give any interim aid to Kavitha.
