A senior Civil Police Officer (CPO) allegedly died by suicide in Kozhikode, mentioned Kerala Police official mentioned on Tuesday. Civil Police Officer is the bottom rank in the Kerala Police. The police departement ordered an investigation as this was the second alleged suicide incident reported throughout the state police department this month.
Earlier, a driver in Kerala police died by suicide at his residence in Muvattupuzha in Ernakulam district On October 4.
Mental torture by seniors: Suicide notice
The deceased had left behind a notice alleging that psychological torture by a few of his superior officers. The suicide notice instructed that ill-treatment by his senior prompted him to take the acute step.
Kin of deceased alleges ‘stress’ reason for demise
In the Kozhikode incident, relations of the CPO alleged that the officer took the acute step on Monday following work-related stress from his superiors.
The officer was found hanging in the basement of an electronics retailer merely 200 meters from Kuttiyadi police station the place he was posted, police mentioned.
The senior CPO was lacking from the station at round 11.30 am and his physique was found by locals round 4 pm, it mentioned. A case of unnatural demise has been registered and an investigation has been launched, police mentioned.
