New Delhi: Senior Congress chief P.C. Chacko, who give up the grand previous celebration earlier this month forward of the Kerala Assembly elections, on Tuesday confirmed that he would be part of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP).

“I am formally joining the NCP today. NCP is part of the Left Democratic Front in Kerala. Once again, I am back in the LDF as a part of NCP,” he advised the media.

The transfer assumes significance because the NCP is a member of the ruling Left Democratic Front (LDF) alliance in Kerala.

This got here as Chacko, who give up the Congress on March 10 over alleged undemocratic methods within the candidates’ choice for the meeting elections in his residence state Kerala whereas citing factionalism inside the celebration, was anticipated to fulfill NCP chief Sharad Pawar immediately.

“I am meeting Sharad Pawar. Whatever crisis the party is facing, it needs to be discussed. I am also meeting Sitaram Yechury and Ghulam Nabi Azad to discuss the future course of action. I need to extend my support to the LDF,” he mentioned.

Polling for the 140-member Kerala Assembly can be held in a single section on April 6 whereas the outcomes can be declared on May 2.

Kerala presently has a Left coalition authorities led by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.
