Tamil Nadu weightlifter R. P. Keerthana broke the National youth record in snatch, clear & jerk and general to clinch the gold in women’ 81kg class of the Khelo India Youth Games in Chennai on January 30.
Keerthana lifted a complete of 188 kgs, together with 85kg in snatch and 106kg in clear & jerk to complete forward of state-mate Ok. Oviya (184kg). The earlier record in snatch (81kg), clear & jerk (104kg) and general (185kg) had been held by Ch. Srilakshmi of Andhra Pradesh in the National youth championships final yr in Nagercoil.
